Communities and trade
The dynamics of the interrelationships between the trees, owners, the rest of the community, harvesters, harvesting practices, producers, sorters, collectors, buyers and larger scale urban traders and exporters differs between different communities, harvesting areas and species. Nevertheless, it is the integrity of this dynamic that will determine the future of the trees within any one community and place. Little comprehensive information has been gathered or shared. The articles below begin to demonstrate some of those dynamics and the challenges of bringing about sustainable change.
